Orientation Pub Night & Open Mic @ Coopers Pub – Jan 7th, 2011

On Friday January 7th, Metalworks will be welcoming the Institute’s latest students with an Orientation Pub Night at Coopers Pub. Open Mic at Coopers Pub which is located at 780 Burnhamthorpe Road West in Mississauga. They will also be presenting an Open Mic which is hosted by myself.
The evening will be free and All Ages with the Orientation starting at 7:00 pm and the sign up for the Open Mic at 9:30 pm.

Guest Lecture – Nov 5th, 2010: Blues veteran Rick Fines at Metalworks Institute

On November 5th, Metalworks Institute presents an entertaining evening of music with the engaging character of Rick Fines. He is a seasoned veteran of the folk and blues circuits in North America and will be sharing his understanding of blues, finger-style and bottleneck guitar with our student audience. The event has also been opened to the community.

Kevin HughesFor over 10 years Kevin Hughes has been the Designer and Lead Pyrotechnician for many of the large stage shows seen all over the world today. He has toured with entertainers such as Green Day, Mary J. Blige, Guns and Roses, Rush, Jonas Brothers, Spice Girls, Britney Spears, and My Chemical Romance. His awe inspiring pyrotechnic displays have graced many events and award shows as well. His work has been seen on The Grammy’s, The American Music Awards, The Video Music Awards, The Superbowl, The Tony’s, The Video Game Awards, The Europe Music Awards and The Brit Awards.

Free Songwriting Workshop on September 25th, 2010

Preceding the launch of Canadian Radio Star – the 17th annual National Songwriting Competition – Canadian Music Week is presenting a free New Songwriters’ Workshop targeted to aspiring artists and songwriters. This day-long program hosted by Metalworks Institute is one in a series of workshops that will take place in participating cities across Canada from September 16th to October 10th, 2010.
