About this Diploma Program
Blending creative skills and technical knowledge, the Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program incorporates the progressive recording, production, and design knowledge required to succeed in today’s high-tech audio industry. From music creation to music production, this program has been designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the evolving world of recording, including both large-format console recording and ‘in the box’ technologies. Students get hands-on experience capturing and producing audio for visual media, preparing them for opportunities in the exciting world of film & television and video games. Students learn and apply techniques to optimize audio quality and listener experience in a variety of real-world applications. The vast experience of Metalworks Studios has infused this curriculum with a wealth of knowledge derived from over 45 years of real-world success.
Graduates of Metalworks Institute's Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program are eligible for a Degree Pathway into Yorkville University's Bachelor of Creative Arts Degree.
Graduates of Metalworks Institute's Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program are eligible to apply to Metalworks Institute's Post-Graduate Music Mixing & Mastering Program.

Students are taught through a variety of instructional methods including: lectures, workshops, labs, e-learning, clinics, and tutorials.

Degree Pathways - Laurier
The Metalworks Institute-Laurier pathway offers an opportunity for Metalworks Institute graduates to receive two semesters of credits (one-year) toward a four-year Laurier Bachelor of Music degree. Laurier students can spend three terms at Metalworks Institute and receive an Audio Production and Engineering Diploma that will be credited towards a year of their Laurier Bachelor of Music degree. Alternatively, Laurier University music students can enroll in Metalworks Institute’s unique courses on an ‘a-la-carte’ basis to supplement their university experience.
FROM METALWORKS INSTITUTE
Audio Production & Engineering Diploma graduates will receive two semesters of credits (one-year) toward a four-year Laurier Bachelor of Music with a concentration in Self-Directed Studies. Minimum academic performance requirements apply.
FROM LAURIER UNIVERSITY
Laurier University students can spend three terms at Metalworks Institute and receive an Audio Production and Engineering Diploma that will be credited towards a year of their Laurier Bachelor of Music degree.
Laurier University’s renowned Faculty of Music is dedicated to fostering artistic and scholarly development of the highest calibre and to providing a creative environment for student success. Its students, faculty and outside artists present upwards of 100 concerts and events a year to the public.
The Faculty of Music offers two undergraduate programs: a Bachelor of Music and Ontario’s only Bachelor of Music Therapy. The Bachelor of Music offers many concentrations, including Canada’s first in community music, as well as composition, music education, integrated musical arts, music history, theory and critical analysis, performance, and self-directed studies.
Degree Pathways - Yorkville
Metalworks Institute has partnered with Yorkville University to offer Degree Pathways.
Students who successfully complete the Audio Production & Engineering Degree Pathway will graduate with a Diploma from Metalworks Institute and a Bachelor of Creative Arts Degree from Yorkville University. Students who complete the Music Mixing & Mastering Degree Pathway will graduate with a Diploma and Post-Graduate Diploma from Metalworks Institute and a Degree from Yorkville University. Upon completion of the Degree Pathway, international students are eligible to apply for a post-graduate work permit.
