Curtis Freeman wins an award at the MARTYS

The Metalworks Community was front and centre (and behind the scenes) at the 2022 Mississauga Arts Council’s MARTYS in May with nominees, award winners, performers, and technical support making sure the show was a hit!

Metalworks Instructor, Curtis Freeman won the Artistic Excellence Award for Established Artists in the Music Instrumental category – for his extensive work as an artistic performer in the Mississauga arts and culture scene.  Ukraine folk-pop singer and current Music Business student, Marta Shpak, performed a stirring rendition of Ukraine’s national anthem saying that she was “grateful and proud to say thank you to Canada for supporting Ukraine during this tragic time”.  With the support of their instructor Andy Linden, Metalworks Institute Live Event & Concert Production students Larissa Balcita, Ariel Dhanraj, Rachel Klingbyle, and Arvind Virdi took turns operating the lighting gear that dazzled all the attendees of the Gala.
