Sara Kae (a.k.a. Sara Kanutski) Awarded Career Colleges Ontario Outstanding Alumni Honours
Graduated From: Music Performance & Technology Diploma (2019) &Music Business Diploma (2020)
We’re very excited to congratulate MWI Alumna, Sara Kanutski (Music Performance and Technology 2019, Music Business 2020), for being named this year’s Career Colleges Ontario Outstanding Graduate in an Applied Arts & Sciences Program. Sara is gaining traction as an emerging artist and continues to positively impact the world as role model, especially amongst Indigenous youth.
In 2019, Sara graduated from Metalworks Institute as a vocal major in the Music Performance and Technology program, leading her on to release her debut single “Fool For you”, followed by a Christmas single “Now That You’re Here (It’s Christmas Time)”. Soon after graduating, Sara worked at 106.5 ELMNT FM, a Toronto-based radio station, as an on-air personality while completing a Metalworks Institute diploma in Music Business. Sara has recently returned to Thunder Bay to work with the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra and focus on her music career.
Sara continues to pursue her dreams while encouraging her community to do the same. Her mission is to fuse her musical projects with her Indigenous roots as much as possible in order to spread her message, and empower those who have also suffered from Indigenous discrimination and to reclaim their power, much like she has. On June 1st, Sara will be releasing her upcoming single ‘RISE’, written to do just that – inspire her Indigenous community to succeed in their wildest dreams.
A true talent. A true leader. Congratulations Sara! We look forward to seeing how your journey unfolds.
