Gil Moore Named Mississauga’s 2025 Citizen of the Year

Metalworks Institute founder and Triumph drummer Gil Moore has been awarded Mississauga’s 2025 Citizen of the Year, the highest civilian honour the city bestows. Presented by Mayor Carolyn Parrish, the award now hangs in City Hall as a lasting recognition of Gil’s impact on the community.

This recognition of contributions to the Canadian music industry reflects the influence Gil and Metalworks have had in building opportunities for artists and strengthening Mississauga’s cultural landscape.

Through the creation of Metalworks Studios, Metalworks Institute, and Metalworks Production Group, Gil has established a hub for music, arts, and culture in Mississauga. Beyond music, he is also an active supporter of community initiatives, youth programs, and city-building projects. This honour underscores the positive influence of his decades-long commitment to the city’s growth and his support for careers in the arts.

For Metalworks students and alumni, this award serves as a reminder of the strong foundation and community values at the heart of their education. Congratulations Gil on this remarkable recognition!
