Arkells Win Group of the Year JUNO for the 6th Time and Earn the Allan Slaight Music Impact Honour
Graduated From: Audio Production & Engineering Diploma (2005)
Tim Oxford (Audio Production & Engineering 2005) and his band Arkells took home their third consecutive Group of the Year JUNO at this year’s ceremony in Edmonton. Since winning their first JUNO in 2010, Arkells have been recognized with 17 nominations - winning 9 JUNOS: New Group of the Year (2010), Group of the Year (2012, 2015, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023) and Rock Album of the Year (2015, 2019).
With sold out shows and chart-topping hits, Arkells have certainly been a force in the Canadian music industry. it’s no surprise that Canada’s Walk of Fame quoted the The Globe and Mail calling Arkells “the right kind of band for this decade” as they were recognized with the Allan Slaight Music Impact Honour at the late 2022 ceremony. This prestigious award is presented to a remarkable musician, duo, or group that continued to make a positive impact with their talent and benevolence in the field of music – with the Arkells earning the honour for their work with various charitable organizations addressing a wide range of issues including affordable housing, access to healthcare, food insecurity, and music education/programming.
We are thrilled to congratulate Tim and his bandmates Max Kerman, Mike DeAngelis, Nick Dika, and Anthony Carone on their latest accomplishment and continued impact!
