Alumni Update: Tom Wood, Show Production & Event Management
Graduated From: Show Production And Event Management Diploma (2012)
Tom Wood, originally from The United Kingdom, graduated from Metalworks Institute’s Show Production & Event Management Diploma Program in 2012. In addition to currently working with Canadian progressive metal band Protest the Hero, Tom has just finished working the Timebomb Tour with Canadian Singer/Songwriter Alyssa Reid and Toronto Indie/Pop artist Virginia to Vegas.
This April Tom will be taking on the various duties of Production Manager and Front of House coordinator for Canadian 2015 JUNO Nominated singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes. Throughout the tour, Shawn will be headlining shows all over North America, including stops in Miami, Nashville, Dallas, and Toronto. In early May, Shawn Mendes will join Taylor Swift’s The 1989 World Tour with Vance Joy where Tom will continue working with the tour.
In between shows and when he is not on tour, Tom works for Production Resource Group (PRG), a leading supplier of entertainment and event technology for concert touring, corporate events, trade shows and more. He will be working with PRG this summer during the Pan Am Games which are being hosted in various locations across Ontario. Before heading out on tour with Shawn Mendes, Tom will be spending the next three weeks working at Toronto Fashion Week venues with PRG.
