Alumni Update: Taylor Herperger, Professional Sound & Business (Live Production Major) Diploma
Graduated From: Professional Sound & Business Diploma (Live Production Major) (2012)
Taylor Herperger, a graduate of the Professional Sound & Business (Live Production Major) Diploma Program, recently started a new and exciting position in radio, as the Promotions Manager at 105.3 Rock in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Prior to taking on this new role, Taylor decided to move on from her job as Promotions Coordinator at Warner Music Canada to further pursue her passion for writing by focusing on her music and travel blog Taylor On A Trip. During her travels, Taylor continued to work as a freelance writer, marketer, event planner, and website manager.
Taylor’s experiences as both a manager and content creator have prepared her for the diverse responsibilities she’s taken on at 105.3 Rock. As Promotions Manager, Taylor is responsible for writing and executing promotional proposals; attending local events as an official rep for the station; maintaining 105.3 Rock’s website, contests, and newsletter; and creating content for the station’s social media accounts.
We asked Taylor ‘What has been the most helpful aspect of your Metalworks education?’ and this is what she had to say:
“The most helpful aspect of my Metalworks education has been the contacts I made at the school… of course the radio and marketing classes came in super handy, but if I hadn’t been given the networking opportunities that Metalworks provided, I don’t know where I’d be!”
Taylor also had some great advice for current Metalworks students, “Get out to all the events you possibly can and network network network … never pass up an opportunity, even if it doesn’t fit into your ‘plan’. When I was in school, I never thought I’d be working in radio, but here I am, and I love it!”
