Alumni Update: Shaan Thiara

Shaan Thiara, a graduate of our Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program and the 2018 recipient of Metalworks Institute’s prestigious Founder’s Award, has founded his own record label and production house called ‘Ennea Records’. Based in Mississauga, Ennea Records offers a range of services, including artist development, recording and audio production services; they pride themselves on offering a ‘complete top-to-bottom solution’ for artists looking to develop, record and release new music.

Like so many entrepreneurs, Shaan takes on many different roles at his company including Producer, Recording Engineer, Creative Director, and Artist Manager. Shaan currently works with two other producers at Ennea Records, including fellow Metalworks Institute graduate Nick Giansante, a graduate of both the Audio Production & Engineering and post-graduate Music Mixing & Mastering Diploma Programs.

Ennea Records is becoming a hub of creativity with a growing client list of up-and-coming local artists reflecting multiple genres. Shaan’s current client list includes Luciana Santaguida, Mehs, Knaux, YammaKing, Marcos Mandosa, MoonLight, Omen Of The Streets, Yarah, Chxn, Glo soda, Parkfromcc, and LTtheMonk.

We asked Shaan “What has been the most helpful aspect of your Metalworks education?” and this is what he had to say:

“The most helpful aspect would be the studio classes. My teacher [went] beyond teaching me the hands-on aspects of analog equipment in the studio – he taught me so much about studio protocol, etiquette and morale. The teachers each have their own teaching style and I believe that the community and engagement surrounding the education fosters excellent personal development both in and out of the classroom.”
