Alumni News: Juno Award Nominees 2020

The JUNO Awards are celebrating 49 years of Canadian talent this year! It's awesome to see multiple Metalworks Institute graduates nominated and/or credited on nominated projects this year – Darren 'Jeter' Magierowski, Kevin Dietz, Mike Brandolino (Valley), Navraj Goraya (NAV), Riley Bell, Shin Kamiyama, and Terence Lam. Congratulations to all the 2020 nominees!

*Update* The original JUNO Awards ceremony scheduled to air on Sunday, March 15th, was cancelled due to COVID-19. The JUNOS Presented by TD will announce the 2020 winners in all 42 categories during a special virtual event on Monday, June 29th at CBC Music.

In additional to the much-anticipated reveals, the event will feature performances from Iskwē, Neon Dreams, The Dead South, Alexandra Stréliski, Andrew Phung, Chris Boucher, Finn Wolfhard, Gary The Unicorn, George Stroumboulopoulos, Jessie Reyez, Measha Brueggergosman, Nuela Charles, Shoshona Kish, The Honourable Steven Guilbeault, Angeline Tetteh-Wayoe, Florence K, Julie Nesrallah, Laila Biali, Odario Williams, Rich Terfry, Saroja Coleho, Tom Allen, and Tom Power.

Kevin Dietz

Kevin Dietz, a graduate of our Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program, engineered The Glorious Sons' album A War On Everything, which is nominated for Rock Album of the Year!

Mike Brandolino

Mike Brandolino, a graduate of our Professional Sound & Business (Studio Production Major) Diploma Program, is a member (singer, songwriter, guitarist & producer) of the indie-pop band Valley who are nominated for Breakthrough Group of the Year!

NAV

Navraj Goraya (NAV), a graduate of our Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program, has racked up four nominations! NAV is once-again nominated for the JUNO Fan Choice Award, his debut album Bad Habits is nominated for both Album of the Year and Rap Recording of the Year, and he is a featured artist and composer on 88GLAM's eponymous album, which is also nominated for Rap Recording of the Year!

Riley Bell

Riley Bell, a graduate of our Professional Sound & Business (Studio Production Major) Diploma Program recorded, mixed, and mastered Daniel Caesar's chart-topping album Case Study 01, which is nominated for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year!

Shin Kamiyama

Shin Kamiyama, a graduate of our Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program has engineering credits on NAV's chart-topping album Bad Habits which is nominated for both Album of the Year and Rap Recording of the Year!

Terence Lam, a graduate of our Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program co-wrote, produced, and engineered RALPH's song Gravity, which is nominated for Dance Recording of the Year!

Darren Magierowski, a graduate of our Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program has engineering credits on 'Little Star' by iskwē which is featured on her latest album acākosīk. acākosīk is nominated for Adult Alternative Album of the Year and the video for 'Little Star' is nominated for Music Video of the Year!
