Metalworks Institute is happy to congratulate Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR on their recent GRAMMY Award nomination for “Somebody Loves Me” from their collaborative album $ome $exy $ongs 4 U. The track, which was engineered and mixed by Metalworks alumnus Noel Cadastre (Audio Production & Engineering 2006), has been nominated for Best Melodic Rap Performance. This milestone follows our original coverage of the album’s release and highlights the contributions of several Metalworks graduates who helped bring the album to life.
Noel, a long-time OVO engineer and collaborator with Drake, worked directly on the nominated track, marking his sixth GRAMMY award nomination. We are also proud to recognize the involvement of additional Metalworks alumni, including Santiago Echeverri Buitrago (Professional Sound & Business [Studio Production Major] 2022, Music Mixing & Mastering 2023), Harley Arsenault (Audio Production & Engineering 2015), and Jad “OUPSiNG” El Khoury (Audio Production & Engineering 2021, Music Mixing & Mastering 2022), who contributed to other tracks on the album. Their involvement in this project highlights the strength, talent, and collaborative spirit of the Metalworks community.
Noel’s legacy at Metalworks extends to the classroom through the Noel Cadastre X Metalworks Institute Scholarship, established to support and encourage the next generation of audio professionals. Several songs from $ome $exy $ongs 4 U were also mixed at Metalworks Studios, connecting this project to the environment where students gain hands-on experience. This recognition underscores both the expertise of our graduates and the role of Metalworks’ facilities in supporting world-class music production.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Drake, PARTYNEXTDOOR, and Noel on this outstanding achievement, and we wish them the best of luck at the 68th Annual GRAMMY Awards this coming February!
