Akeel Henry nominated for Best R&B Performance and Best R&B song for his work on “Hurt Me So Good” by Jazmine Sullivan

We want to give a huge congratulations and a thank you to Alum Akeel Henry (APE 2014); congratulations for the Grammy nomination for work on “Hurt Me So Good” by Jazmine Sullivan, and a thank you for coming in as a guest lecture this past term.

Akeel has worked alongside amazing artists such as Desiigner, Shawn Mendes, Ty Dolla $ign, Jeremih, Trey Songz, Toni Braxton, Swae Lee, and Daniel Caesar. Akeel has also received a production placement on the US Gold Certified track “Don’t Get Much Better” featuring Jeremih, Ty Dolla $ign and Sage the Gemini, which was used on the hit movie, The Fate of the Furious. His work on “Hurt Me So Good” with Jazmine Sullivan has been nominated for the 65th Annual Grammy Awards for Best R&B Song.

He spoke to MWI Students humbly about his journey through the industry. Extending this advice to our students: “Trust your own ear and just make music you like, work with people you like, and work hard”.
