Summerfest 3
This free all day event featured a BBQ, a silent auction, raffles, tours of Metalworks Studios, as well as musical performances.
Gracing the two stages were Android Meme, Ashley Sloggett, Colin White, Down by Riverside, Dusty Boytchuk, Joel Martin, Morning Thieves, Selyne Maia, Still Avenue and Sunday Sounds Good. Several of the performers were MWI grads including Joel Martin, Steve Luxton (Sunday Sounds Good) and Sean Andrews (Still Avenue).
Raffle and silent auction prizes included headphones, yoga classes, tickets to a Hamilton Tigercats game, gift certificates to Boston Pizza and Long & McQuade, CDs, t-shirts, jackets, a basket of beauty products and much more.
Every part of this event was run by our students. They organized and promoted the event, set-up the equipment, stage managed, and operated the sound and lighting equipment.
All funds raised at this event were once again donated to Friends of We Care; a national organization that has been sending physically disabled children to specialized summer camps for over 26 years.
