Students Host For the Love of Music Fundraiser
Students from the Show Production & Event Management 1-Year Programrecently hosted a fundraising event for the Unison Benevolent Fund on Monday, November, 26th, 2012. The event took place at Hugh’s Room, 2261 Dundas St. West in Toronto, and featured the multi-Juno award winning country band, The Good Brothers; singer/songwriter/guitarist extraordinaire Wendell Ferguson, and Soul/R&B artist Stacey Kaniuk.
As part of our Institute’s Event Production & Management course, students were given a hands-on opportunity to organize and produce all aspects of this charity concert, including advertising, budgeting, licensing, and gathering sponsors.
The “Unison Benevolent Fund” is a non-profit organization that provides counseling, emergency relief, and benefit programs for those in the Canadian Music community who face personal or professional challenges due to hardship, illness, unemployment or economic difficulties. Since most people in the music industry are self employed insurance simply does not cut it, that’s why the Unison Benevolent Fund exists. For more information on the Unison Benevolent Fund go to (www.unisonfund.ca).
Take a look at the video below to see a recap and summary of the event, as told by our very own students themselves. Special thanks to FACTOR and Metalworks Production Group for additional support and equipment to produce this event.
