Launch 48 Metalworks News

Rik Emmett performing at Metalworks!Rik Emmett – guitar virtuoso, Canadian troubadour and TRIUMPH frontman – was kind enough to lend his time and talents to the MWI Backstage Pass event on February 6th. The event was from 7:30pm to 8:30pm EST and was available for live online stream. The audience was filled with our students, fans and aspiring guitar legends. Emmett was warmly welcomed on stage and delivered an awe-inspiring bluesy performance.

The evening was hosted by Music Performance and Technology program Vocal Instructor, Wendy Irvine. Throughout the evening, Wendy asked Rik questions about his musical influences, career and insight into the industry. Audience members were also given the opportunity to ask Rik their own questions. Rik responded with enthusiasm and positivity, showing a genuine love for his craft. Rik shared wisdom and insight derived from a career as a talented singer and songwriter; as well as a guitarist who’s work spans from rock-filled arenas to intimate settings with his classical guitar.

The audience quickly realized while watching the effortlessness with which Rik makes his beautiful music, they were unquestionably in the presence of a true master. After the one-hour segment concluded, audience members were invited to stay for photos, autographs and one-on-one chats with Rik.

We send a huge thank you to Rik for the great performances, the sincere answers  and all of the inspiration!
