Each year the Alumni Awards of Merit are presented to graduates in recognition of outstanding achievements within the last 12 months. This year we presented Alumni Awards of Merit to 13 of our exceptional graduates.


Akeel Henry
In recognition of his work with artists including Kid Ink, Jeremih, Ty Dolla Sign, Sage the Gemini, Eric Bellinger, and Roy Woods.

Darren Fraser
In recognition of contributions to the production of “Guidance” on the gold-certified album ‘Bird in the Trap Sing Mcknight’ by Travis Scott in addition to his work with artists Baka, Roy Woods, and Majid Jordan.

Darren Magierowski
In recognition of being a three-time JUNO Award recipient for his work with The Sheepdogs, Harrison Kennedy, and July Talk. In addition to his work as recording engineer with various artists including Alexisonfire, Cancer Bats, The Trews, Three Days Grace, and Mobb Deep, alongside world-class producers and engineers including Ian Davenport, Julius Butty, Jim Wirt, Eric Ratz, Chris Thorn, and Nick Blagona.

David Mohacsi
In recognition of his work with Mother Mother and co-writing their number one radio hit “The Drugs” in addition to his engineering work on One Bad Son’s upcoming album featuring number one rock radio hits “Raging Bull” and “Scream for Me”.

Derrick Sepnio
In recognition of his work with PRC Music Production and Lightroom Studios in Hong Kong with renowned singer Khalil Fong, and for producing a string of number one hits in China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong for artists Jane Zhang, Bibi Zhou, Tia Ray, A-Lin, and Jayden Joshua.

Filip Hosek
In recognition of his work as an assistant re-recording mixer for Deluxe, with 2016 credits including Gramercy Pictures’ Ratchet and Clank, and Capcom Entertainment’s Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.

Julian Troiano
In recognition of his work as a producer, recording engineer, and performer in addition to his involvement with Music Monday and the Coalition for Music Education for which he is a Youth4Music ambassador – fighting for the importance of music education and local communities.

Katrina Galbraith
In recognition of her work as monitor engineer for JUNO-Award winning Group of the Year Walk off the Earth and The Tea Party’s 20th-anniversary tour and re-release of their iconic live-album ‘The Edges of Twilight”.

Madisson Luhowy
In recognition of her work with Sound Art in Winnipeg and Calgary as Front of House Engineer, Monitor Engineer, System Technician, and Stage Technician for artists including Wu-Tang Clan, TI, Tyler the Creator, Our Lady Peace, Brett Kissell, Dean Brody, Blue Rodeo, and Billy Ray Cyrus.

Michael Herkimer
In recognition of his work as a lighting designer for Rise Against on their current world tour in support of their latest album Wolves.

Navraj Goraya AKA Nav
In recognition of Nav’s success as the opening artist for the Weeknd’s Fall 2017 arena tour. He is signed to XO and Republic Records, a Canadian record label funded by the Weeknd and owned by Universal Music Group.

Noel Cadastre
In recognition of continued success as Drake’s recording engineer and his multiple engineering credits on Drake’s 2016 album ‘More Life’ which is now double platinum in Canada and gold in the UK.

Tim Oxford
In recognition of his accomplishments as a founding member and drummer for the band Arkells, nominated at the 2017 JUNO Awards for Group of the Year and Rock Album of the Year in addition to his contributions to engineering, composing, mixing and percussion work for the band’s multiple studio albums.
