Alumni Update: JUNO Nominations 2019

The 2019 JUNO Award nominations are in! It's great to see so many Metalworks Institute graduates nominated and/or credited on nominated projects. Congratulations to all the nominees and be sure to tune in to watch the Juno Awards Ceremony on March 17th !

NAV

Navraj Goraya, a graduate of the Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program, is nominated for the 2019 JUNO Fan Choice Award. His debut album Reckless is nominated for Rap Recording of the Year, and he is a featured artist and composer on three other albums nominated in that same category: Belly's album IMMIGRANT, Tory Lanez's LoVE me Now?, and 88GLAM's 88GLAM RELOADED. NAV is also credited as a composer and vocalist on Travis Scott's album ASTROWORLD which is nominated for International Album of the Year.


Riley Bell

Riley Bell mixed Jessie Reyez's album Being Human In Public, which is nominated for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year. Riley is a graduate of the Professional Sound & Business (Studio Production Major) Diploma Program and won the 2018 JUNO Award for Recording Engineer of the Year.


David Mohacsi

David Mohacsi, a graduate of the Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program, engineered Monster Truck's album True Rockers, which is nominated for Rock Album of the Year.

Shaddy Roman

Shaddy Roman, a graduate of the Professional Sound (Audio Specialist) Diploma Program, did the Digital Editing for Monster Truck's album True Rockers, which is nominated for Rock Album of the Year.


Tim Oxford

Tim Oxford, a graduate of the Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program, is a founding member and drummer for the band Arkells. Arkells are nominated for the Group of the Year and their 2018 album Rally Cry is nominated for Rock Album of the Year and Album Artwork of the Year. Eric Ratz is also nominated for the Jack Richardson Producer of the Year award for his work on Arkells' tracks People's Champ and Relentless.


Justin Madill

Justin Madill, a graduate of the Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program, has engineering credits on Arkells' album Rally Cry, which is nominated for Rock Album of the Year and Album Artwork of the Year. Eric Ratz is also nominated for the Jack Richardson Producer of the Year award for his work on two tracks off the album, People's Champ and Relentless.


Shin Kamiyama

Shin Kamiyama, a graduate of the Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program, has engineering credits on Travis Scott's ASTROWORLD, which is nominated for International Album of the Year, and The Weeknd's My Dear Melancholy, which is nominated for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year.


Darren 'Jeter' Magierowski

Darren 'Jeter' Magierowski, a graduate of the Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program, has engineering credits on The Trews' Civilianairs, which is nominated for Rock Album of the Year.


Tom Wood

Tom Wood, a graduate of the Show Production & Event Management Diploma Program, is the Production Manager and Front of House Coordinator for Shawn Mendes, who has been nominated for six 2019 Juno Awards, including the Juno Fan Choice award, Single of the Year, Album of the Year,  Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Pop Album of the Year.
