Alumni News – April 2020

April 2020 has been another eventful month for the Metalworks Community, the Music Community, and the world. While we have been staying home to do our part in the fight against COVID-19, artists everywhere, including our amazing alumni, have been seeing us through these tough times by continuing to create and share.

This past month, Metalworks Institute Alumni Community have done some outstanding things, with multiple songs ranking on Billboard's Hot 100 and Top 200, some fantastic live-streamed collaborations, and even a nomination for Record Producer of the Year!

Noel Cadastre
Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program

Noel Cadastre, a graduate of our Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program, co-engineered Drake's latest hit single "Toosie Slide" which ranked No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, US Spotify & Apple Music Streaming Charts. Congratulations!

Riley Bell
Professional Sound & Business (Studio Production Major) Diploma Program

Riley Bell, JUNO award-winning audio engineer and a graduate of our Professional Sound & Business (Studio Production Major) Diploma Program, has mixing engineering credits on Jessie Reyez's latest album "Before Love Came To Kill Us" featuring Eminem and 6LACK. The album peaked at No. 4 on the US Billboard Top R&B Albums chart and at No. 17 on the Canadian Billboard Top 200 chart.

Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program

Navraj Goraya AKA NAV, a graduate of our Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program, recently released a new single with Gunna featuring Travis Scott - "Turks" peaked at No. 9 on the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart at at No. 17 on the US Billboard Hot 100!

Harley Arsenault, Greg Moffett, & Noel Cadastre (Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program)
Angie Randisi (Professional Sound & Business (Studio Production Major) Diploma Program)

Amazing to see not one, not two, but four Metalworks Institute graduates credited on PARTYNEXTDOOR's latest chart-topping album "PARTYMOBILE". Angie Randisi (2018 graduate of our Professional Sound & Business (Studio Production Major) Diploma Program), Harley Arsenault and Greg Moffett (graduates of our Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program), all have Recording Assistant credits on the album and Greg also has Assistant Mixer credits. All three graduates contributed to the chart-topping track "Believe It Feat. Rihanna" which ranked at No. 23 on the Billboard HOT 100 chart and hit No. 12 on the UK charts.

Last but not least, Multi-Platinum Certified, Grammy-Award Winning Producer & Engineer Noel Cadastre (Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program) has Recording Engineering credits on the album's lead-single 'Loyal Feat. Drake' which peaked at No.19 on the the Canadian Billboard Hot 100 and at No. 14 on the US Billboard Rhythmic chart. Congratulations on all your success!

Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program

Mark Schroor, a graduate of our Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program, has been nominated for Record Producer of the Year at the 2020 Country Music Association of Ontario Awards (CMAO) alongside Erik Fintelman! The production duo is nominated for their work with David Boyd Janes, who is nominated in the Rising Star category, Robyn Ottolini, and Emily Clair. Stay tuned for the awards from October 1 - 4 2020.

Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program

Walter Cabral, a 2018 graduate of our Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program, has just released a new single "Stand Up (Isolation Song)". This uplifting tune is full of positive and important reminders about self-care. Take care of yourself and enjoy some new tunes!

Professional Sound & Business (Studio Production Major) Diploma Program

Mike Brandolino, a graduate of our Professional Sound & Business (Studio Production Major) Diploma Program, is a member of the JUNO-nominated band 'Valley'. Valley connected with platinum-certified artist Scott Helman to perform in Episode 9 of "The Hotel Sessions".

Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program

Tal Vaisman, a graduate of our Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program, is one half of the talented duo KADEEMA. Earlier this month, the band released the official video for their single "Good Lies".

Cassidy Glecoff, a 2019 graduate of our Music Performance & Technology Diploma Program, just released a new single "Speak Of The Devil", which was co-produced and mixed by fellow MWI graduate Yanni Caldas (Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program and Music Mixing & Mastering Diploma Program). It's always great to see our graduates continuing to make music together.

Electronic Music Production Diploma Program

Cameron Di Marco, a graduate of our Electronic Music Production Diploma Program, creates music under his artist name 'Karvell'. He recently released his first new single of 2020 titled "Galaxy".

Tyler Twigger
Music Performance & Technology Diploma Program

Tyler Twigger, a graduate of our Music Performance & Technology Diploma Program, is the drummer for the pop-punk trio 'Incase We Crash'. The band recently released a new single "City Sky" and accompanying music video.

David Mohacsi
Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program

David Mohacsi, an award-winning Audio Engineer and graduate of our Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program, recorded Poesy's latest single "Any Human" - produced by multi-award winning producer Gavin Brown.


Darren "Jeter" Magierowski
Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program

Darren "Jeter" Magierowski, a graduate of our Audio Production & Engineering Diploma Program and 2019 Alumni Award of Merit recipient, has engineering credits on Protest The Hero's new single "The Canary". "The Canary" is the first song released off their much-anticipated album "Palimpsest" which is scheduled to be released on June 19th.


Damiao Melo Fernandes
Electronic Music Production Diploma Program

Damiao Melo Fernandes, a graduate of our Electronic Music Production Diploma Program, produced three new singles for the Toronto-based indie-rock band 'The Hatchbacks' - "I Can't Help Myself", "Tomorrow" and "Into The Night".
