2013 MARTY Awards!

Launch 48 Metalworks News

This year Metalworks Founder Gil Moore and one of our graduates (2010) Joel Martin both find themselves with nominations for the 2013 MARTY Awards!
“Now into its 19th year, the MARTY Awards celebrate the artistic triumphs of the city’s established artists, while encouraging and supporting emerging artistic talent. Produced by the Mississauga Arts Council, the MARTYS have been considered an important launch for many Mississauga artists’ careers. Past winners have included runner up finalist for So You Think You Can Dance Canada, Amanda Cleghorn; rock bands, illScarlett and Billy Talent; Jazz pianist, Nancy Walker; filmmaker, Richie Metha and many more!”
Gil Moore has been nominated for the Laurie Pallet Patron of the Arts Award and Joel Martin has been nominated for the award in Established Performing Arts. When asked about his nomination Joel boasted “It’s always nice being nominated for an award, especially one who’s previous recipients include Billy Talent, illScarlett and Rik Emmett! As an independent artist, sometimes it’s hard to keep that unrelenting determination, but things like an award nomination keep you motivated and tell you that you’re on the right track!”

The MARTY Awards are held by the Mississauga Arts Council (MAC) and will be taking place on May 9th at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga!
