Brian Betsworth is a multi-talented, technical expert with a robust background in live sound, digital audio, intelligent and conventional lighting, digital and analog video recording, processing, and playback; as well as creating music, singing, songwriting, recording, and post-production processing. Brian has taught at the post secondary level for more than ten years, winning accolades and acclaim from many hundreds of students he has instructed. With more than thirty-five years of experience in the field of music, events, and entertainment he has worked with countless artists, performers, leaders, and celebrities, both international and domestic, in a wide variety of production capacities, from tech to tour manager.
Recording Studio Workshop
Experience the role of the studio engineer and the process of tracking musicians in the studio with award winning recording/mix engineer and Metalworks Institute instructor Alf Annibalini.
Alf is one of Canada’s most accomplished recording engineers. His credits in the music industry read like a who’s who of multi-platinum artists, including Arkells, Greta Van Fleet, Nelly Furtado, The Tea Party, Our Lady Peace, DMX, Danko Jones, Glenn Lewis, Amanda Marshall, Big Sugar, Blue Rodeo, Saukrates, Leanne Rimes, The Trews, I Mother Earth, and Kardinal Offishall.
Concert Lighting Workshop
Experience the role of the lighting designer and operator and how concert lighting systems work with L.D. and Metalworks Institute instructor Andy Linden.
A native of Ottawa Ontario, Andy has spent more than 22 years on the road as a lighting designer/operator and tour manager. During his lengthy career, Andy has worked on tours for the likes of Rik Emmett, Blue Rodeo, Jeff Healey, The Tea Party, The Boys Brigade, New Regime, Teenage Head, Lee Aaron and Alannah Myles touring North America and Europe.
The Business of Entertainment Presentation
An introduction to the business of entertainment and the relationship between art and commerce. Join Metalworks Instructor Ron Rogers for an informative look at the business of entertainment.
Ron’s career in music and media began at former industry trade journal RPM, where as news editor he covered music business trends and events. He has interviewed many of the biggest names in Canadian and international music, including; Shania Twain, Jann Arden, Crowded House, Malcolm McLaren and Robbie Robertson, Noah ‘40’ Shebib, Randy Lennox, Steve Kane, Rik Emmett, David Bottrill, Tim Oxford and others. He has also written freelance articles, promotional materials and advertorial for a variety of companies and media outlets, including Billboard Magazine, Sun Media and Canadian Music Week.
