MWI Alumna Rises to Prominence as Industry Leader

In the music industry, certain individuals stand out as pivotal figures, shaping the soundscape and providing opportunities for emerging artists to thrive. Among these influential figures is Katie Sahlu (Entertainment Business Management 2010), a multifaceted songwriter and industry expert who has made significant contributions to the Canadian music scene.

Throughout her career, Katie has collaborated with various recording labels and agencies, leaving a mark on the projects she's been involved in.  Her expertise and eye for talent have led her to serve as a judge for the JUNO Awards, Canada's most prestigious music awards, where she has played a role in recognizing excellence within the industry.  Additionally, she has been a valued member of FACTOR (the Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings) as a juror, contributing to the organization's mission of supporting Canadian artists and helping the growth of the music industry.

With a passion for urban music, Katie offers consultation services to artists, assisting with grants, marketing strategies, and songwriting/beat selection, among other aspects.

We congratulate Katie, and wish her luck on her second term as a Director on the board of SaskMusic where she continues to advocate for and support the development of Canadian music talent!
