On Wednesday, January 28th Steve Coady visited Metalworks Institute for a Guest Lecture on Radio Promotion.

Born and raised in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Steve Coady began his life in the music business as a musician and songwriter. He began his career as a record industry executive with the A&M/Island/Motown division of PolyGram Records Canada as a Sales and Promotion representative for Atlantic Canada. He was soon transferred to Toronto, where he went on to hold progressively senior Promotion positions with PolyGram, Sony, Zomba, and finally Warner Music Canada, in the position he holds today as Vice President, Radio Promotion. Steve’s professional achievements are complemented by his commitment to philanthropy and volunteerism, having served as Marketing Chair for the Juno Awards, as a board member of the Canadian Music Therapy Trust Fund and as a member of the Advisory Board of several organizations, charities and events.

During his Guest Lecture, Steve spoke about his upbringing on the East Coast, his introduction into the music industry and his experiences from various aspects of the industry including his time at PolyGram, Sony and Zomba. He detailed that, in his world of National Radio Promotion, he finds it very rewarding to help establish hits for radio and watch artists break into the industry.
