Joshua Samuel takes on new role at Sony Music Canada

Joshua Samuel (Professional Sound & Business 2022) has recently taken on a new role as an A&R Coordinator at Sony Music Canada. In this position, Joshua's primary focus is scouting for talented, up-and-coming artists in Canada while also developing the current roster of artists. His goal is to enhance artist development and bring out the best in the artists by acting as the liaison between artists, managers, and the label.

Joshua credits his education at Metalworks Institute for being pivotal in his career. He explains that understanding the music business while developing his creative ear for producing and mixing records has been incredibly beneficial. The comprehensive knowledge he gained about deal structures, types of royalties, and various industry roles has proved to be key in his journey.

To current students, Joshua offers this advice: "First, you have to believe in yourself and know that you have what it takes. Secondly, have a goal in mind and do whatever it takes to achieve it. Go the extra mile and always leave a good impression because the music industry is small and word travels fast."

Joshua extends a special shoutout to Metalworks Institute instructors Patrick and Melissa for always showing love and support to him and his band RECKL3SS, their encouragement has been a cornerstone of his journey.
