Metalworks Institute is proud to acknowledge the accomplishments of Desiree da Silva (Audio Production & Engineering 2023, Music Mixing & Mastering 2024), who was recently honored with the Outstanding Graduate Award at the 2024 Career Colleges Ontario Awards. This recognition highlights Desiree's notable contributions to the field of audio engineering and the broader music community.
Desiree’s path to success is a testament to her academic dedication and her deep commitment to advancing the music industry. Throughout her studies, she demonstrated a strong work ethic and a well-rounded understanding of both the technical and artistic aspects of audio engineering. However, her impact extends beyond her academic achievements.
A significant milestone in her career was co-founding the first National Student Chapter of Women in Music in Canada, alongside fellow MWI graduate Erin Whitty. This initiative has established an important platform for women and gender-diverse individuals in the music industry, fostering collaboration, connection, and support within the community.
Desiree has also played a key mentoring role at Metalworks Institute, where she has shared her expertise and assisted current students, helping to guide the next generation of talent with the same enthusiasm she showed as a student.
On the professional front, Desiree has made notable contributions as an assistant mixing engineer on the track "Nothing Like Your Lips" from Yoko Gold's latest album. Her technical skills and creativity have earned her recognition as a trusted collaborator within the local music scene.
We are incredibly proud of Desiree’s achievements and look forward to seeing all the amazing things she will continue to accomplish in the future!
