Music, Art & Culture III
Our Music, Art & Culture III course will continue our historical examination of art and culture, and is the successor to Music, Art & Culture I and II. In Part III, we will focus on the amazingly dynamic first half of the 20th century. Tracing the evolution of art and music from the early 1900s to the 1950s, we will also look at how these were affected by the major world events of the time, including World War I, Prohibition, the Great Depression and World War II. Some of the key media and movements we will examine include the expansion of the language of film, Dada, Surrealism, blues, jazz, the Beats, rock n’ roll, and much more.
