Alumni Update: Sarah Buchynski, Professional Sound and Business – Studio Production Major

Sarah Buchynski graduated from Metalworks Institute’s Professional Sound and Business – Studio Production Major Program in 2013. Shortly after graduating, Sarah completed an internship at Pulsworks Audio Arts, a media production company specializing in recording, pre-production and talent development in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

In 2014 Sarah launched Polarity Audio Works, a company providing audio services within the film, music and literary audio industries. The company recently completed the audio post production process for Toronto based production Kawartha Lakes from Black Book Films. Work for this project included dialog editing, sound design, mixing, and foley creation. Polarity Audio Works also provides web design and publicity write ups for clients outside of the entertainment industry. Sarah has created various marketing materials for independent authors, including web audio trailers, press releases and bio outlines.

She has also worked as the audio console engineer for the CPCA 2014 broadcasts and the first half of the Bobcats Hockey Season. In both positions, Sarah was responsible for the broadcast set up (linking to on-location host) and maintaining the broadcasts (commercial input, leveling pre-recorded and live interviews, cueing in on location host, troubleshooting possible broadcast feed issues).

Sarah was the dialog editor, sound designer, Foley artist and Re-recordist for the short film, 9PM and Hell’s Kitty, a web series, both of which are based in Los Angeles.  Some of the episodes Sarah has worked on have been screened at various film festivals. She will continue as a sound engineer on the series as it heads into its 18th episode.
