Alumni Update: Arvil Lewis, Audio Production & Engineering

Since graduating from Metalworks Institute’s Audio Production & Engineering Program in 2010, Arvil has been working as a part-time Board Operator & Technical Director at Toronto radio station G98.7.

“I got the job at the station because I had volunteered for an organization that was honouring Christian musicians and singers about six or seven years ago. The person overseeing the honours happened to be the same person who owns the radio station. It was around the same time I enrolled at Metalworks, so the timing was impeccable”

In addition to this amazing opportunity with G98.7, Arvil recently secured a part-time position as an Audio Visual Technician with the town of Ajax, Ontario. Here, he is able to be innovative with live sound mixing, lighting and playback of pre-recorded content as well as working with cinematic materials.

Furthermore, Arvil is the head Live Sound Mixer and Sound Technician at the Faith Family Church in Ajax where he also plays drums for the in-house band. Arvil was referred in high regards to this opportunity by an old Pastor, who knew of his talent and dedicated work ethic.

“I did a complete overhaul of their existing sound system, researched and made recommendations for new equipment and instrumental purchases. My role there is vital to the success of the department, as they rely on my knowledge and experience when making any technical decisions.”
