Alumni Update: Sean Andrews, Professional Sound & Business – Studio Production Major

Shortly after graduating from Metalworks Institute’s Professional Sound & Business Program (Studio Production Major) in 2011, Sean Andrews was hired on as the full time producer, engineer and executive assistant to Alan Frew, the Juno Award-winning and Grammy-nominated songwriter and lead singer of the band Glass Tiger.

Since then, Alan and Sean have together written songs and worked with many notable artists such as Lindi Ortega, The Tenors, Tim Hicks, Sebell, Suzie Mcneil and Diemonds. The pair worked together on the song Never Wanna Die, which was featured in Diemonds’ 2015 Juno-nominated album of the same name.

In 2012 Sean accompanied Alan to Kuwait, Afghanistan and Oman to play for the troops stationed there. Sean co-produced Alan’s 2015 solo album, 80290 Rewind, which features an array of covers of #1 hits between the years of 1980-1990.

Recently Alan and Sean have been working with Gregory Martin, son of legendary Beatles producer George Martin, and Temple Street Productions (Orphan Black) on a television project.

Outside of working for Alan, Sean has been working as a freelance engineer/producer/songwriter and artist, producing EPs for local artists such as The Northern Dancers, Stevie Carlyle and Pras K. In 2014 he completed his first feature length film score for the movie Dead of Winter, produced by Outpost Media in Parry Sound, Ontario.

This past September, Sean released his self-produced debut solo album, Life Times, under his project name Seven Symphonies. Recently, the Seven Symphonies project earned “Best Rock” honours at the 2016 Toronto Independent Music Awards.
