Alumni Update: Molly Fogarty, Entertainment Business Management

Since graduating with honours from the Entertainment Business Management Program at Metalworks, Molly Fogarty has become an on-air personality. Molly started out with Rock 106 FM at Golden West Radio in Saskatchewan. After a few months, her Program Director decided to move her to the afternoon show on their company’s “baby” station CJ1150, with the largest range and listenership of all the stations within their region.

Being on air is only a component of Molly’s role with the station, as she’s also going out into the community, conducting interviews, ensuring the station logs are correct each day, inserting sports broadcasts into the shows when needed, creating content that can be used by the whole team, and updating the various websites, blogs and social media networks for the station each day.

Molly says the Broadcast Management course at MWI really stood out for her and pushed her to want to be a part of something that is a small but significant part of most people’s lives. When she isn’t at the radio station, you can catch Molly playing shows around southeast Saskatchewan, as she works on building her singer/songwriter career.

Just recently, Molly was promoted to hosting the morning show on Sun 102, another Golden West station in Saskatchewan, which features a Top 40 format.

At the moment, Molly is focused on furthering her broadcasting career, whether that remains in radio, or moves along to television. “Metalworks was the most beneficial year of my life – there were endless opportunities and it opened so many doors. I look back now and wish I could go back, because it goes by so fast.”
