Alumni Update: Matt Mudde, Entertainment Business Management (Music Business)

Matt Mudde is a 2012 graduate of the Entertainment Business Management Diploma Program. He got his start in the entertainment industry before graduating while working as a production manager for Chrome Age Productions. Through Chrome Age Productions, Matt had the opportunity to work on over 25 live shows, from Snoop Dogg to the Sheepdogs.

In 2013, Matt took on a new role– as MC – for the Wakestock 2013 Monster Energy Stage and Miss Wakestock Bikini Contest. Later in 2013, he began to work as the event production and promotions manager for Lazy Eye Entertainment where he has recently worked on shows such as; R3HAB, Bingo Players and Adventure Club. Through Lazy Eye Entertainment, Matt worked as a tour manager and MC for the 2013 TECHNOCOLOURDREAMS, an EDM paint party that traveled across Ontario. To make sure he keeps as busy as possible, Matt also works as the assistant general manager at the Mansion Nightclub in Barrie. He has also done some work as an apprentice lighting technician, a role that is mostly self taught through lots of research and a little trial and error.

This year Matt is looking forward to his third year at Canadian Music Week (he has been a volunteer for the past two seasons) where he will take on the role as festival volunteer coordinator. As volunteer coordinator, Matt will be responsible for holding orientations, volunteer training and scheduling for over 60 venues over five nights. He will also be working with production and backline to ensure that showcases and live events run smoothly.

In the future, Matt hopes to work for a large event and touring company such as Live Nation or AEG as a production manager. He believes that the key to reaching his career goal is to gain experience in each aspect involved with live shows and events.

Matt would like to give a special thanks to our instructors Ron Rogers and Doug Caldwell for keeping him grounded and focused both in his Entertainment Business Management program and in his career so far.

“Remember your roots, and shoot for the stars. Make your dreams your reality.”
