The Slaight Family Scholarship

The Slaight Family Scholarship is awarded to two deserving students with aspirations of excelling in the music industry. The Scholarship entitles the recipients to one year of tuition for any campus, online or hybrid delivery program at Metalworks Institute. Other education related costs, including textbooks, supplies, housing or any other fees associated with the program are not included.

Noel Cadastre | Metalworks Institute Scholarship

The Noel Cadastre/Metalworks Institute Scholarship was established with Metalworks Institute Alumnus and SoundsUnite Co-Founder Noel Cadastre. Noel, a graduate of the Audio Production & Engineering program (2006), has achieved tremendous success in the global music industry, driven by the love of music and a fierce work ethic. Through these scholarships, Noel wants to make sure there is opportunity for the next generation of music industry professionals in the culturally and economically important music ecosystem.

Every year, Noel Cadastre/Metalworks Institute scholarships are awarded to successful applicants valued at up to $10,000 to help cover program tuition eligible programs. Students can study on campus, through distance education, or in a hybrid delivery format.

Open to domestic applicants as well as international applicants from Caribbean Nations, the Noel Cadastre/Metalworks Institute Scholarship prioritizes individuals with a commitment to excellence, a strong work ethic, and a demonstrated passion for music. While the scholarship significantly alleviates the financial burden, recipients remain responsible for other educational expenses, such as the remaining tuition balance, textbooks, supplies, housing, and any additional fees associated with their chosen program.

Canada’s Walk of Fame Emerging Musician / Metalworks Institute Scholarship

The Canada’s Walk of Fame Emerging Musician/Metalworks Institute Scholarships provide recipients with up to $10,000.00 in tuition scholarship towards any campus, online or hybrid delivery Program or Certificate Course bundle at Metalworks Institute of Sound & Music Production. Other education related costs, including the balance of tuition, textbooks, supplies, housing and any other fees associated with the program are not included.

Student Recognition Entrance Scholarship

Metalworks Institute applicants who have graduated from a Canadian secondary school having achieved a final academic average of 80% or higher, and meet the terms and conditions of the scholarship, are awarded the Student Recognition Entrance Scholarship according to the following values:

Final Academic Average
95% or higher – Scholarship value of $1000
90% to 94.9% – Scholarship value of $700
80% to 89.9% – Scholarship value of $500

Laurie Pallett Metalworks Institute Scholarship

The Laurie Pallett Metalworks Institute Scholarship has been established in honor of the Mississauga Arts Council’s Founding Executive Director. For decades Laurie Pallett has been a champion for the arts in Mississauga and her commitment to the arts continues to inspire those in the community. Through her leadership, the Mississauga Arts Council was a catalyst for founding many of the arts establishments within the community including the Meadowvale Theatre, the Art Gallery of Mississauga and the Living Arts Centre.

Tourism Recovery Scholarship

The Tourism Recovery Scholarship provides recipients with a $10,000 tuition scholarship towards any campus or hybrid diploma or advanced diploma program that is geared towards training students to fill technical roles within the culturally and economically important Canadian Live Events industry. This scholarship is jointly funded by the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario and Metalworks Institute. The Tourism Recovery Scholarship is open to all Canadian Citizen and Permanent Residents. Students are still responsible for other education related costs, including the balance of tuition, textbooks, supplies, housing and any other fees associated with the program.

Future Pillars | Metalworks Institute Scholarship

The Future Pillars x Metalworks Institute Scholarship has been established in collaboration with Studio 145 Cooperative to support the post-secondary aspirations of graduates of the Future Pillars program. Through their Future Pillars program, Co-op 145, located in Mississauga, provides education and professional development services for NEET youth to excel within the arts & entertainment industry.

The Future Pillars x Metalworks Institute Scholarship provides successful graduates of the Future Pillars program with $1,000.00 tuition scholarship for any campus, online or hybrid delivery Program or Certificate Course bundle at Metalworks Institute of Sound & Music Production. Other education related costs, including the balance of tuition, textbooks, supplies, housing and any other fees associated with the program are not included.

Children’s Aid Society Scholarship

The Metalworks Institute Children’s Aid Society Scholarship helps youth in care attain their college diploma with funding in the amount of $7,500. This scholarship was established to support local youth in government care with demonstrated merit toward success in their post-secondary studies.

The Clarkson Music Theatre Performing Arts Scholarship

The annual Clarkson Music Theatre Performing Arts Scholarship is a $1,000 Bursary awarded each year to a graduating student who is a Mississauga Resident, entering a post-secondary education, with proven and special ability in the Performing Arts and the intent to continue his/her studies in the Performing Arts (dance, music, acting, production). The student’s pursuit of Artistic improvement may be achieved through courses in post-secondary studies, extra-curricular involvement, private lessons or other proven means. Special consideration will be given to applicants who are in need of financial help AND /OR have a record of involvement in Community Theatre. Clarkson Music Theatre is pleased to continue its mandate to foster young people, music and theatre in Mississauga through this program.

Cheer Evolution/Metalworks Institute Scholarship

The Cheer Evolution/Metalworks Institute Scholarship provides recipients with a tuition scholarship towards any campus, online or hybrid delivery Program or Certificate Course bundle at Metalworks Institute of Sound & Music Production. Other education related costs, including the balance of tuition, textbooks, supplies, housing and any other fees associated with the program are not included. Scholarships range in value from $2500.00-$7500.00.

Bill7Award for Ontario LGBTQ+ Students

The Bill 7 Award helps students attain their first degree or diploma with funding in the amount of $3,500. The Bill 7 Award Trust was established in 1987 to provide post-secondary education scholarships to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, two-spirited or queer (LGBTQ) students with demonstrated financial need who are pursuing a first degree, diploma or certification in any Ontario post-secondary institution.

Musicounts Scholarship

This annual post-secondary award program will help launch the careers of 4 high potential young individuals who are on the cusp of graduating from post-secondary music studies. Selected scholarship recipients will be given a financial award of $4,000 and attend an all-inclusive trip to Toronto for a 4-day mentoring and networking experience.

Toronto Musicians’ Association Moe Koffman Award

This scholarship from the Toronto Musicians’ Association (TMA) provides the recipient with a $500 bursary for the 2022-2023 academic period. The TMA understands the lasting impact of pursuing an education in music and the ongoing need to support student communities.
