Q. What are the admissions requirements?
A. RequirementsIf you have sincere enthusiasm, passion and ambition to succeed in a career in the entertainment industry, you have what we are looking for in our students. In addition:

  • Applicants must have a SSGD or equivalent.
  • Mature applicants are also welcome to apply.
  • Admission to certain programs may be limited and subject to an academic interview and audition.

Q. What is the application/admissions process? How long does it take?
A. The admissions process is simple:

  • 1. Complete and submit the on-line application.
  • 2. An Admissions Counselor will review your application and will contact you by phone and/or email usually within 24 hours to schedule an academic interview .
  • 3. Your academic interview will usually take about half an hour to complete.
  • 4. Upon completion of your academic interview your Admissions Counselor will meet with the Academics Department to review your application and interview results.
  • 5. Applicants will be advised as to the status of their application within one week following completion of all enrollment requirements.
  • 6. Successful applicants must register within 30 days of acceptance to the school; otherwise their acceptance will be revoked.
  • After a period of six months, unsuccessful applicants can re-apply for admission to the school, on a once only basis.

A. Metalworks Institute is located in the heart of downtown Mississauga. Formed in 1974, Mississauga is now recognized as Canada’s 6th largest and fastest growing major city with a population of 729,000 residents representing cultures from around the world.

Situated on the outskirts of the province’s capital, Toronto, our location allows students all the amenities of a large city, but with significantly lower costs of living.

There’s plenty to do and lots to see. The campus is walking distance to Square One, one of the largest shopping malls in Ontario, numerous movie theaters, the Living Arts Centre as well as countless restaurants

Q. Does Metalworks Institute have housing for students?
A. Metalworks Institute is committed to assisting you in your search for safe, clean and affordable student housing. We understand that finding the right place to live is a very important part of planning your educational experience and we are ready to help you explore your options. You’ll find a variety of different types of housing located in the area. Mississauga’s cost of living is far lower than that which one would find in Toronto and offers an abundance of available space. There are many available properties minutes from the school itself.

Q. How many hours will I be at school each week? Can I work while I attend Metalworks Institute?
A. All of the Programs at Metalworks Institute are full-time. In order to be successful, students must be completely focused and dedicated to their studies. Most programs require between 25 – 30 hours of class time as well as additional time at home to complete assignments and study for tests and exams.
