Metalworks Institute was born from Metalworks Studios, originally the management hub and creative space for legendary Canadian Supergroup Triumph. Established in 1978, Metalworks has expanded over 30 years into a six studio powerhouse and today ranks as Canada’s consummate world-class studio facility. Recognized for an unprecedented 11 consecutive years as “RECORDING STUDIO OF THE YEAR” at the CMW Canadian Music Industry Awards, Metalworks Studios has become the undisputed leader in the recording studio business of Canada. Gold, platinum and diamond record awards from companies like EMI, Sony-BMG, Warner, and Universal line the corridors at Metalworks.
The educational division of Metalworks was launched in 2005.
Metalworks Institute first opened with one available program, Audio Production and Engineering and sixteen students in attendance. Since then, the student body has grown to 250 and 11 full-time programs are now offered. A partnership with the third Metalworks Company, Metalworks Production Group, has allowed our live production and show management students to benefit from the same hands on experience as those studying studio production.
Metalworks Institute’s ever developing campus will support future programs as we continue to explore creative ways of producing exceptionally skilled graduates in all areas of the entertainment industry.
